Serco has made significant contributions at their own COP2 Service Facility located next to EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, supporting a wide range of satellite operations and projects. As the owner and operator, Serco provides essential engineering, technical, and management services, playing a key role in logistics and operational support for satellite missions. Their expertise in ground systems, data processing, and facility management has earned them recognition, including 'Best in Service' awards from partners. The COP2 facility underscores Serco's commitment to excellence and innovation in satellite operations, ensuring reliable data services and mission success.

We are looking for a Product and Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Flight Operations team within an established Earth Observation service onsite in Darmstadt.

Main Responsibilities

As Product and Quality Assurance Engineer you will join our Flight Operation teams within an established Earth Observation service contract and will concentrate your activities on the following:

  • Configure and maintain PA quality tools
  • Track and process all anomalies in the relevant databases, both ground and spacecraft related
  • Support ground & spacecraft Anomaly Review Boards (ARBs), tracking all decisions and actions taken
  • Maintain the product tree of each mission to reflect the evolving configuration baseline
  • Regularly reporting the FOS configuration and its baseline documentation (CIDL + ABCL Reporting)
  • Organise and conduct the Freeze in view of critical operations (Freeze Note and CCB)
  • Track and process all change requests
  • Stimulate the regular assessment of FOS risks and reflect the update in the relevant risk registers
  • Stimulate the collection of lessons learned after major mission phases
  • Survey document production and provide quality review of documents on request
  • Keep up-to-date the PA documentations within Serco and ESA QMS (PAP, CMP, RMP, DMP)
  • Monitor compliance to applicable QMS procedures and support the team for every occurring audit
  • Attend agreed simulation sessions and support the chasing of actions raised in the Debriefing
  • Support the service operations contract in terms of the reporting, KPI and relevant information quality.

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Proficient in Product and Quality Assurance of Missions in Development and Operations
  • Experience in working in an operational environment
  • Fully proficient in Configuration Management
  • Previous experience in operational experience on risk management process (risk register, trend, acceptance)
  • Familiar with Quality Management system, if ESOC QMS will be a strong asset
  • Familiarity with ECSS Standards applicable to the Ground Segment
  • Familiarity with the ISO 9001 Standard
  • Proven experience in coordination of anomalies investigation and resolution, report generation
  • Well‐organised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate activities internal and external to the FOS team.
  • All candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
