Job Introduction

Serco in Italy is one of the top 50 World Space Manufacturing and Service companies with a long history of providing Earth Observation operations, maintenance and front-end services to the European Space Agency and other institutions. Dedicated to the European Space Agency’s Earth-observing activities, ESA-ESRIN is the European centre of excellence for exploitation of Earth observation missions. The mission and payload operations of ESA's Earth observation satellites are managed here, and ESRIN is the primary source for the acquisition, distribution, and exploitation of data from these and other non-ESA satellites.

Main Responsibilities

As System Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Support on impact and risk analysis, 
  • Transfer To Operations for new components and functionalities introduction, software configuration changes and, operational system evolution.
  • Documentation review/editing and support during regular meetings and audit
  • Software development, integration and configuration
  • 2nd and 3rd level engineering support to the PDS Operations and Maintenance (e.g. anomaly investigation and resolution, configuration control and software installation kit packaging, Verification and Validation activities,..)

Successful Candidate

Technical skills:

  • Good knowledge of Linux (RedHat based distributions, e.g. Centos, Red Hat)
  • Good knowledge of IAM solutions Keycloak
  • Good knowledge of quarkus/containerized distribution 
  • Knowledge of Standard Auth Protocols (OIDC, SAML) 
  • Knowledge of common Access Control mechanisms (RBAC, ABAC, …) 
  • Experience with Docker Swarm/Kubernetes environments 
  • Independent knowledge of Linux automation/devops (e.g. scripting, ansible, python..)

Personal skill

  • Good written and oral command of English (B1) 
  • Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working are mandatory.
  • Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones.
  • Capacity of working under pressure.

Is an asset:

  • Knowledge of Grafana, OpenSerach an/or Elastic STACK 
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps topics 
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins) 
  • Microservices Architecture 
  • Experience with Monitoring systems (Grafana, ELK) 
  • Knowledge of Linux networking
