Job Introduction

Serco has significantly expanded its space services in the Czech Republic, contributing to major European space projects. Serco is part of the DUA consortium, which aims at offering a unique digital identification system to track the usage of assets and services relevant to the EC's initiative "DestinE", navigating across large bodies of text, tracing not only DestinE acknowledgement detection but DestinE relevance to science and policy making decisions.  In this context, Serco oversees the operation of the UAD Service, to collect and visualize summary statistics of Destine usage based on multiple criteria.

It is also the access point for monitoring the performance of the DUA services and their availability, showing the KPIs, KPI-levels and cost modulation of the services according to the agreed SLA. The UAD service includes the operations, maintenance, and evolution of a Service Desk. Every actor interacting with the DestinE services will belong to one or more groups with associated access privileges to certain info. This will allow any user to view only the dashboards with the granted privilege.

 

On behalf of Serco Czech Republic we are looking for a skilled System Application Operator join our team distributed over in Prague.

Main Responsibilities

The System Application Operator is used to monitor and control the data products system in a PDGS operational environment.

The role encumbers in the following areas:

  • Operate the Ground segment monitoring facility to assess the overall system behaviour (performance, irregularities etc..)
  • Detect irregularity based on the routine analysis of defined performance indicators (by the analysis of the content of the reports generated and/or by the absence of report)
  • Refine the performance indicators to characterize the PDGS operations’ completeness and performance
  • Identify and report to the customer any problem or incident 
  • Anomaly Handling investigation and problem solving 
  • Propose recommendations for resolution of anomaly related to ground segment 
  • Earth Observation (EO) data products management
  • Systematic generation of EO data products monitoring and control  

Successful Candidate

  • EO data products and auxiliary file knowledge
  • Linux O.S and native shell scripting
  • Run, operate, monitor the system according to performance parameters
  • Provide service desk and second line support
  • Perform corrective maintenance (at least for blocking problem

Any experience with the following would be of great value:

  • Java programming
  • SQL knowledge
