Job Introduction
Serco is a trusted provider of services to National Space Agencies and the European Space Agency (ESA), we have over 40 years’ experience supporting the space sector and providing services for all stages of our customer’s space missions.
On behalf of our team, we are looking for a Software Engineer. You would be working on-site in Toulouse, with a generous distribution of working hours into the hybrid model.
You would be working closely with platform designers, cloud experts, and Earth Observations engineers to create high-quality, interactive experiences. Your expertise in general software development, along with your proficiency in gaming technologies and VR/AR frameworks, will be crucial in delivering exceptional products.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications for a geospatial platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement platform features and mechanics
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Java, Python, and other relevant programming languages
- Optimize performance and enhance user experience across various platforms and devices
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in game development and immersive experiences
- Contribute to project planning, including estimating timelines and resource requirements
Successful Candidate
Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in software development, with a strong portfolio of projects
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java and Python
- Experience with game development frameworks (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and VR/AR technologies (e.g., Oculus SDK, ARKit, ARCore)
- Strong understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Passion for gaming, VR, and AR, with a keen interest in creating immersive experiences
Nice to have:
- Experience in developing multiplayer or online gaming solutions
- Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g., C#, C++)
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and animation tools (e.g., Blender, Maya)
- Previous experience in a similar role within the gaming or tech industry
