We are seeking a IT Service Desk Agent / Hardware Technician to work on our Customers Site (EUMESTAT) in Germany. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world. 

Main Responsibilities

As IT Service Desk Agent / Hardware Technician you will concentrate your activities on the following:

The majority of the tasks and responsibility of the service centre around first- and second-level support to users for software and hardware issues. As part of the ICT Service Desk team, you would be working with your colleagues to cover the full set of support services below. As a candidate you should have demonstrable skills and experience to cover the responsibilities outlined below:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot ICT software issues, including MS Windows 10/11, Office 365, MS Edge, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Install and maintain mobile computing solutions (e.g., VPN access, notebooks, remote access, iPhones).
  • Provide end-user support and assistance with Outlook configuration, administration, and troubleshooting within an MS Exchange environment.
  • Perform user and device administration tasks in MS Active Directory, MS Exchange, Azure AD, and Intune.
  • Identify, repair, and replace failed hardware components on PCs and notebooks.
  • Support IT technologies utilized at EUMETSAT, such as DELL notebooks, desktops, Konica Minolta printers, iPhones, and MS Office applications.
  • Maintain and support meeting room infrastructure and assist with MS Teams meetings.

In addition to the technical experience, we are looking for the right soft-skills and attitude for the role. As a candidate, you should bring a positive and proactive mindset to the role and be able to work effectively and professionally with users, colleagues and other stakeholders. You should be able to be able to work independently to effectively manage your own workload, as well as proactively supporting colleagues and taking on new tasks during workload fluctuations. 

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Experience in inventory and stock management, with knowledge of managing inventory repositories, particularly in SAP.
  • Familiarity with structured IT service environments, such as ISO 9000 certified and/or ITIL-based frameworks.
  • Professional certifications, such as MCP Windows 10 or other relevant certifications (e.g., MCP – MS Office).
  • Hands-on experience with software distribution systems (e.g. Intune).

About Serco

Serco provides the User Helpdesk and Data Centre Operations Service of the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), which plays a key role in enhancing the use of EUMETSAT data, products and data services.

The main objective of the service is to ensure effective and user-driven service to support the provision of data, both real-time and offline, as well as to provide comprehensive technical information to support all forms of user enquiries relating both to current operational services and to future satellite programmes of EUMETSAT.
