Job Introduction

Serco has made significant contributions at ESA's European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in the Netherlands, supporting a wide range of space missions and projects. Serco has provided essential engineering, technical, and management services, playing a key role in logistics and operational support for missions. One of the domains Serco is looking to grow is ‘Navigation’ and with this in mind we are looking to hire a small team of project control, business control and risk management specialists. 

We are seeking a Business Control Specialist to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world.  The candidate will be part of a service providing administrative support to internal cost, financial, analytics, and manpower related tasks within the NAV Projects and Cost Centre. We are seeking a candidate who has expertise in business control, financial management, and data accuracy, with proficiency in SAP and related tools.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage staff and contractor’s timesheet ensuring accuracy and timely approval and changes Support reimbursement required.
  • Support the implementation of Purchase Orders or Contracts related objects and P2P business control related objects funded by cost centre:
  • Monitor internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Support the workforce cost management, planning and reporting.
  • Support to Internal Cost Monitoring.
  • Support data auditing and follow-up activities on NAV tools & corporate systems.
  • Support financial and management audit(s) preparation and follow-up activities.
  • Support the digitization, consolidation & tracking of procurement action plans, running Costs plans, Facility Management plans and Information Technology plans in the related systems.
  • Support to Internal Cost monitoring.
  • Support internal audits (e.g. Timesheet, missions) and QMS Audit preparation.
  • Support to operations and preparation of documents for the closure of various programmes (SAP reports on contracts financial status – e.g. NRP, Tableau MPP, GRN, invoices reports, and standard SAP reports to allow information for the closing).
  • Support to Cost Centre Missions, monitoring and controlling mission budget and planning.
  • Support to financial report and dashboard generation using Power BI.

Successful Candidate

  • University degree (minimum Bachelor) in Business Administration or similar.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in financial planning and controlling and/or management.
  • Experience as a proficient user of SAP and in particular ECC and SRM modules and familiarity with relevant ESA corporate applications ( e.g. ESA-p) is an asset.
  • Proficient with Power BI.
  • Experience in SLA monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of IPSAS.
  • High capacity to interact and communicate effectively with cross-functional team, from engineering, technical and business domains.
  • Ability to interface at appropriate level with relevant actors within and outside of the Directorate.
  • Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Highly proficient in the use of modern activities and resource management support tools/databases of standard office automation support software packages including advance usage of MS-Office and in particular advanced use of Excel.
  • Experience working in multinational project environments, ideally with ESA or similar organisations.
  • Must be a citizen of an ESA/EU member states.
