We are seeking an Assistant Resource Controller to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world. This is a fixed-term contract position ending on 30 April 2026.
Main Responsibilities
As an Assistant Resource Controller you will concentrate your activities on the following:
- Support planning, monitoring, and control of budgets, costs and disbursements in line with the BU’s strategic and operational goals.
- Assist in multi-year financial planning (LTP, MYP), setting yearly financial baselines and updating in-year budgets including manpower, procurement and missions.
- Help define and maintain recharge rates, ensure cost centre financial balance and contribute to internal recharging processes.
- Track financial performance against plans, identify variances and produce management reports and KPIs.
- Maintain key financial data (e.g., WBS, cost centres), monitor fund usage and coordinate with Finance for budget reallocations.
- Improve financial and operational tools, processes and data quality.
- Contribute to process automation and tool documentation.
- Act as liaison with Finance, Contracts and other services to ensure data consistency and alignment.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment tracking, competency management and workload forecasting across the Directorate.
- Maintain detailed workforce and workload data for reporting and decision-making.
- Assist with contract financial implementation, control and reporting.
Successful Candidate
Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent qualification in Business Administration (or Communications as relevant), with relevant experience.
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting and cost control, including multi-year planning (LTP, MYP).
- Good understanding of financial monitoring, variance analysis and performance reporting (including KPIs).
- Experience with internal financial processes such as recharge rate calculation and budget reallocation.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial tools.
- Ability to manage master data (e.g., WBS, cost centres).
- Knowledge of workforce planning and resource management processes, including competency tracking and workload forecasting.
- Experience in process improvement and tool development to support financial and administrative operations.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Contracts and other corporate services.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
- Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage interfaces across departments.
- Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
